Who started Saunders Lynn & Company?
Kerri O’Connor and Megan Speechley started Saunders Lynn & Co in 2005 with the aim of providing a passionate and outstanding level of diligence to filling roles in our respective fields of expertise.
Who is Kerri O’Connor?
Who am I? I graduated with a bachelor of commerce degree majoring in Management and later completed a Master of Commerce, majoring in Marketing.
I spent my career in sales and marketing roles in the building and hardware industry before moving into recruitment in 2000. I worked for over four years with a leading supplier to the plumbing industry in Australia and then moved into the door furniture industry. The recruitment experience as a candidate at that time led me to believe there was a massive opportunity for a recruiter that cared passionately about our industry and understood the details and nuances of our market place.
I started in recruitment with Morgan & Banks in 2000, motivated by my previous frustrating experiences dealing with recruitment consultants. I worked almost exclusively in the building products and B2B sector, recruiting sales and marketing roles from graduates through to senior management. I also had the opportunity to work with some of the best recruiters in the business. I sat at their feet… I listened, I learned and I applied best practice.
Upon leaving Morgan & Banks, I worked for a small recruitment agency, again recruiting sales and marketing executives within the building and consumer durables marketplace. I had many candidates and clients suggest I strike out on my own… and so I did.
Over 15 years I have developed an in depth knowledge and experience recruiting in decorative and consumer products through to structural building products.
I have worked with clients such as Argent, Armstrong, Boral, Caesarstone, Caroma, CSR, Electrolux, James Hardie, Hunter Douglas, Kohler Co, The Laminex Group, Robinhood, Sebel Furniture, Selleys, Stanley, Stylus, Velux and Wattyl and Yates among many others.
I specialises in the sales and marketing area and recruit the following types of positions on a regular basis.
- General Managers
- Marketing Manager/Directors
- Product & Brand Managers
- Marketing Analysts
- Marketing Communications executives
- Marketing Assistants
- Sales Managers (state and national)
- Sales representatives (retail, hardware, architectural consultants, direct to builders)
